The Bombing of Ghouta

Each day that bombs fall in Ghouta, Syria, lives are lost. Yesterday, Wednesday, March 6th, forty-five (45) people died from a blanket of bombs falling on the villages of Eastern Ghouta.

The loss of human life grows each day that the bombing persists. Will you Help?

Our community leaders ask for each of us to show support with the Muslim community in Ghouta by signing the petition by The Council Of Islamic Organizations Of Greater Greater Chicago* . This campaign is designed to pressure the Syrian and Russian governments to stop the bombing. For the Petition to be persuasive, we need thousands of signatures. From the 400,000-500,000 Muslims living in Northern Illinois, we need 10,000 signatures.

*(in our previous email we incorrectly referenced Amnesty International as the originator of this petition)

Dear President Trump,

We ask you to exercise your power and influence as the leader of our country to end the bombing in Syria’s Eastern Ghouta. Since November 2017, more than 400,000 people have been suffering under the Syrian government’s assault.

They have been enduring hunger, malnutrition, and lack of medical care. Since the end of January, they have experienced escalated bombardment of their homes, hospitals and markets. In the past few weeks, more than 540 civilians have been killed.

We ask you to demand that Mr. Putin and Mr. Assad end this tragedy. We call upon you to insist that the Syrian government immediately ends all attacks on civilians and civilian structures, and allow humanitarian aid into Eastern Ghouta.
