Every year since 2009, CIOGC has provided the greater Chicago Muslim community the opportunity to engage with Illinois legislators in a meaningful way through Illinois Muslim Action Day (IMAD).
This year, Illinois Muslim Action Day will be held on Thursday, April 11, 2019. Save the date!
Our legislative agenda is inclusive and serves of importance to not only the Muslim community but the greater Illinois community as a whole.
IMAD is an event when CIOGC leads Illinois Muslims in a day of advocacy and change at the state capitol in Springfield, Illinois. During IMAD, Muslim community leaders meet with their legislators to discuss issues and topics that are relevant to the Muslim community and promote the greater good.
Due to your support and engagement, we recently helped get the Anti-Registry Program Act, Religious Garb Bill, Illinois Trust Act, Combating Hate Crimes, Ensuring Police Accountability, and Faith-Based Violence Prevention bills successfully passed by both the Illinois State Senate and House, and subsequently signed into law by Governor Bruce Rauner.
Stay tuned for more information about registration, the Page program for Muslim youth, and our 2019 Legislative Agenda. With your support and participation, the Muslim community is poised to make a great impact at IMAD 2019.
