Our mission is to be the unifying federation of Islamic organizations of greater Chicagoland, the leading advocate of Muslim community interests and a catalyst for enriching American society.
Understanding the problem:
40 million individuals in the United States live in poverty or rely on government assistance to afford food. It’s insufficient, as many families run out of money before the month ends. COVID-19 pandemic, has forced the economic downturn coupled with sweeping layoffs that has exacerbated hunger issues in Chicago and throughout the U.S. Food insecurity in Cook County alone rose by 51 percent last year, according to the Greater Chicago Food Depository (GCFD).
How will CIOGC make an impact?
Your donations will directly be applied to cover infrastructure expenses that will help vulnerable populations of Muslims and other needful communities across the Chicagoland area. Communities who would receive the meat packages include refugees, homeless, poor, needy, and other communities across Chicago. Qurbani commemorates the great sacrifice of Prophets Ibrahim and Ismail. The alternate sacrifice of an animal is to give to those in need.
Our campaign will capture the true essence of being able to provide the gift of Qurbani to communities who need it most. Let us help fulfill your obligations by being the bridge to distribute Qurbani services. In partnership with Islamic Relief, we will distribute frozen meat to communities across greater Chicago.
