
Muslim Student Life Coordinator (Part-Time)
Location: Chicago, IL (Hybrid – Travel Required to Campus Sites)
The Council of Islamic Organizations of Greater Chicago (CIOGC) serves as the unifying force for over 400,000 Muslim Americans across the greater Chicago region and increasingly throughout Illinois. Representing more than 60 member organizations—including mosques, Islamic schools, and community organizations—CIOGC works to strengthen collaboration within the Muslim community while engaging with government, media, interfaith partners, and the public.
The Muslim Student Life Coordinator supports the implementation of CIOGC’s Muslim Student Life Initiative by coordinating student engagement, campus partnerships, and programming across colleges and universities throughout the Chicagoland area.
Working closely with the CIOGC MSA Committee Chair and Director of Operations, the Coordinator serves as a relationship builder and program facilitator, connecting Muslim Student Associations (MSAs), student leaders, campus partners, and community organizations.
This role focuses on implementing programs, supporting strategic initiatives, gathering student feedback, and strengthening Muslim student life while operating within clearly defined professional boundaries.
Serve as the primary liaison to Muslim Student Associations (MSAs) and Muslim-affiliated student organizations throughout Chicagoland.
Build and maintain relationships with student leaders, chaplains, faculty advisors, and campus partners.
Coordinate stakeholder meetings alongside the CIOGC MSA Committee Chair.
Represent CIOGC at campus events, meetings, student programs, and community gatherings.
Facilitate communication between campuses, community organizations, and CIOGC leadership.
Conduct student needs assessments through surveys, interviews, forums, and other engagement tools.
Analyze and summarize findings into reports for CIOGC leadership.
Support strategic planning initiatives with the MSA Committee Chair.
Track program metrics and evaluation data.
Identify emerging student trends and community needs.
Coordinate student-centered programming in areas including:

Mental Health Awareness
Civic Engagement
Protection Against Islamophobia, Discrimination, and Harassment
Additional responsibilities include:
Coordinating event logistics, registration, communications, and follow-up.
Collaborating with other CIOGC departments to align programming with organizational priorities.
Working with the Communications Department to support social media, website updates, newsletters, and promotional materials.
Build relationships with organizations serving Muslim students.
Foster collaboration among chaplains, community organizations, masajid, alumni, and national Muslim organizations.
Strengthen existing campus and community services rather than duplicating them.
Help connect campus stakeholders with local masajid.
Support the development and engagement of an MSA alumni network.
Maintain documentation of campus engagement, meetings, partnerships, and program activities.
Provide regular updates to the Director of Operations and MSA Committee Chair.
Prepare monthly and quarterly reports and dashboards.
Support program evaluation efforts using CIOGC assessment tools.
Assist in preparing public-facing reports highlighting student needs and program accomplishments.
The Muslim Student Life Coordinator:
Does not provide religious instruction or issue theological rulings (religious matters are referred to the CIOGC Imam Council).
Does not provide clinical counseling or mental health treatment (students are referred to licensed professionals and partner organizations).
Does not provide academic advising or career counseling beyond connecting students with appropriate campus and community resources.
Maintains confidentiality and complies with all applicable privacy laws and CIOGC policies.
Bachelor’s degree in Higher Education, Nonprofit Management, Social Sciences, Islamic Studies, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
Experience working with student organizations, nonprofit programs, or community engagement.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Strong organizational and time management abilities.
Ability to work independently while collaborating with multiple stakeholders.
Ability to travel regularly to campuses and community sites throughout the Chicagoland area.
Experience working with Muslim Student Associations or within higher education.
Experience coordinating events or volunteer programs.
Familiarity with surveys, reporting, or program evaluation.
Experience using Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, CRM systems, or project management software.

CIOGC is seeking a dynamic, strategic, and relationship-driven Development Manager to lead and grow the organization’s fundraising operations, donor stewardship, and community giving initiatives.
Reporting directly to the Executive Director, the Development Manager will play a key role in strengthening CIOGC’s financial sustainability by managing a diverse portfolio of individual donors, corporate sponsors, foundations, and Zakat-eligible giving programs.
The ideal candidate combines proven nonprofit fundraising experience with a strong appreciation for the diversity of the Chicagoland Muslim community.
Develop and implement year-round donor cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship strategies.
Manage a portfolio of current supporters while identifying and engaging new donor prospects.
Lead seasonal fundraising campaigns, including Ramadan and year-end giving initiatives.
Maximize Zakat-eligible and Sadaqah fundraising opportunities.
Cultivate partnerships with businesses and professional networks to secure sponsorships for CIOGC programs and events.
Research and identify foundation, corporate, and public grant opportunities aligned with CIOGC’s mission.
Prepare, submit, and manage grant applications, renewals, and reports.
Monitor grant timelines and reporting requirements.
Collaborate with internal teams to collect program data, impact metrics, and success stories for grant reporting.
Lead planning and execution of major fundraising events, including the Annual Gala and member recognition dinners.
Partner with the Communications Department to develop and execute digital fundraising campaigns across email, social media, and the website.
Help maintain and strengthen CIOGC’s case for support across fundraising platforms.
Maintain accurate donor records, pledge tracking, and gift processing within the organization’s CRM.
Generate fundraising reports and analytics to measure campaign performance and inform leadership and Board decision-making.
Oversee timely gift acknowledgments, tax receipts, and personalized donor thank-you communications.
Bachelor’s degree in Nonprofit Management, Communications, Business Administration, or a related field.
3–5 years of professional fundraising or development experience in a nonprofit organization.
Demonstrated success securing major gifts, managing fundraising events, or obtaining grant funding.
Familiarity with the diverse American Muslim community and Islamic philanthropic principles, including Zakat.
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to translate complex community initiatives into compelling donor-focused messaging.
Experience using nonprofit CRM platforms (such as Salesforce, Bloomerang, Neon One, or similar).
Proficiency with Google Workspace and Microsoft Office.
