Interfaith Mental Health First Aid Certification Training on Feb. 23

The Council of Islamic Organizations of Greater Chicago (CIOGC) has joined American Muslim Health Professionals (AMHP) and its partners to offer an Interfaith Mental Health First Aid Certification Training on Saturday, February 23, 2019 at the Catholic Theological Union in Chicago.

Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) is an evidence-based 8-hour certification program, which introduces participants to risk factors and warning signs of mental health issues like anxiety, depression, schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, eating disorders, substance abuse, and addictions, and builds understanding of their impact. Similar to how CPR training helps a layperson assist an individual following a heart attack, MHFA teaches non-mental health professionals how to give first aid to individuals experiencing a mental health crisis and/or who are in the early stages of a mental health disorder.

Register for our Interfaith Mental Health First Aid Certification Training on February 23

The ultimate objective is to identify and triage individuals who might be suffering from mental health issues in our homes, schools, and communities. Luminaries such as Michelle Obama have taken the training and have testified to its empowerment of individuals to help others deal with mental health issues.
