CIOGC in Numbers

CIOGC continues to be our community's only institutional civil rights defense and advocacy organization in Illinois and the NW Indiana region.

Why CIOGC?

CIOGC is the only umbrella-style, full-time organization in the city of Chicago working to unite the Muslim community across Chicagoland, that is in the civic arena in terms of its engagement, and sought out by the media in terms of its public image.

Scott C. Alexander, Ph.D. Associate Professor of Islam Director of Catholic-Muslim Studies Catholic Theological Union

“The Council of Islamic Organizations of Greater Chicago is at the forefront of local and national Muslim leadership for inter-religious dialogue.”"

The Rev. Stanley L. Davis, Jr. Executive Director The Chicago and Northern Illinois Region of The National Conference for Community and Justice

“As a human relations organization, it is the mission of the National Conference for Community and Justice to reach out in partnership with religious, government, and community organizations in an effort to fight bias, bigotry, and racism. It has been my privilege to work alongside the officers and members of the Council of Islamic Organizations of Greater Chicago in many community building efforts. Muslim pioneers to the Chicago area must be pleased to see the progress the current and rising generations are experiencing as they maintain relationships started decades earlier. God willing, the Muslim community’s support of the CIOGC will result in magnifying the peace experienced by all people.”

Senator Tammy Duckworth

“Organizations like yours help to strengthen community ties by bringing together Muslim communities consisting of people from different racial, cultural and ethnic backgrounds. In uniting individuals from across the Chicagoland area, you promote the legacy of diversity for this nation and improve understanding across communities. Additionally, I applaud you for your educational initiatives, advocacy efforts and developing inter-faith and governmental relationships. The work that your organization does helps foster the next generation of culturally aware, civic leaders by highlighting the importance of coalition building and civic engagement. I commend you for your commitment to empowering Muslim communities in the state and across the country…thank you for the important work that you do.”
