CIOGC Muslim Youth Expo

Join us for the 3rd Annual Muslim Youth Expo on September 23, 2017 at Moraine Valley Community College in Palos Hills, Illinois. This year’s Youth Expo will include lectures, a Career Fair, and Fresh Palettes Art Competition. Halal food vendors, exhibitors, and merchandisers will also be on-site.

The theme of this year’s Youth Expo, “The Way of the Best,” invokes the spirit of excellence as displayed by the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh), and serves as a focal point for the lectures and discussions to be held throughout the day.

Speakers at this year’s Muslim Youth Expo represent some of Chicago’s finest youth leaders and community activists. They will address a variety of topics including activism, bullying, and women who helped elevate Islam during the time of the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh). The following speakers are confirmed and more are being added!

• Esra Rahima from the Muslim Women’s Alliance (MWA)

• Safaa Zarzour, Superintendent of Universal School

• Dr. Fahad Khan, Clinical & Deputy Director at the Khalil Center

• Dr. Aisha El-Amin, Associate Provost for University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC)

Participate in the Muslim Youth Expo ‘Fresh Palettes’ Art Competition

Are you a young Muslim artist? Want to showcase your work at the 3rd Annual Muslim Youth Expo on September 23? Then join us for the “Fresh Palettes” Art Competition! There are two categories in which participants can submit their works: Poetry & Spoken Word (a-cappella only, raps and song lyrics are accepted) and Visual Art (painting, drawings, photography, sculptures, engravings). 

Winners of the competition will be recognized at the Muslim Youth Expo and will receive the following prizes: 

1st place receives $200 and two tickets to CIOGC’s Annual Dinner. The winning artwork will be required to be available for display at the CIOGC Annual CommUnity Dinner in November.

2nd place winners will receive a $100 gift card

3rd place winners will receive $75 gift card

Please submit your art pieces to communications@ciogc.org by the deadline of Sunday, September 17, 2017. All contestants must review the rules for the Muslim Youth Expo ‘Fresh Palettes’ Art Competition.

Host A Booth at the Muslim Youth Expo

CIOGC would like to invite your organization to participate in the festivities by hosting a booth at our bazaar. Booths are only $50 and will remain on display in the main hall for the entirety of the Expo. Last year, we had a multitude of different booths representing various aspects of the Chicagoland Muslim community, including small businesses, youth groups, non-profit organizations, and independent publications.
