Gun reform – Let’s push for change!

Help us push gun reform across the US and take serious measures to
protect our children. With the recent turn of events including mass
shootings at a supermarket in Buffalo, New York, and a primary school in Uvalde, Texas, that left 31 people dead.
Why should it matter to you?
Illinois has stricter gun laws than Texas but experiences a higher rate of gun crime, especially in the city of Chicago. However, most guns recovered in Chicago come from other states, often with looser gun laws, such as Indiana and Mississippi.

Reform includes-
 Tougher background checks for buyers younger than 21
 $15bn (£12.2bn) in federal funding for mental health programs and
school security upgrades
 Funding to encourage states to implement “red flag” laws to remove firearms from people considered a threat

Education – Student loan forgiveness

The pandemic-driven student loan payment moratorium has been
extended four times by President Biden since he took office, with the most recent extension set to expire on August 31. It is unclear when or how it will be extended again.
Let’s spread the word about the existing income-driven programs that allow borrowers of federal student loans to earn forgiveness. We must insist on a long overdue adjustment and offer debt relief to borrowers.
