Imam Charles Muhammad served as the President of the local school council at Whitney Young Magnet High School; and as a delegate on the city-wide Advisory Board for Chicago Public Schools. During his tenure on the Whitney Young H.S. LSC, he established the WYHS Muslim Students Association. 

Professionally, Imam Charles is a Civil Engineer and has extensively worked on highway and bridge projects. he is also a teacher in the Oak Park School District. His community service experience also includes being an Imam at an Oak Park masjid and at one of Chicago’s westside masjids; the Executive Board member of the Oak Park and River Forest Community of Congregations (an interfaith council); and being on the Board of Trustees of Chicagoland Shura Council. Imam Charles has also served as a delegate on the CIOGC House of Representative for Masjid al-Taqwa and Al-Aqsa Community Center.

Imam Charles and his wife Maria reside in Shorewood, IL. They are proud parents of two sons, two daughters, and nine grandchildren, MashaAllah.
