On October 16, mosques all around the Chicagoland area will be opening their doors to their local communities and inviting everyone of all faiths to join CIOGC’s 2nd Annual Open Mosque Day.
Continuing our pilot program from last year, Open Mosque Day is an opportunity for those who do not normally interact with the mosque to enter and explore the building, observe Muslims engage in prayer and worship, learn about the mosque’s role in the community, and ask questions about Islam while enjoying refreshments and conversation with the local congregation.
We hope that through this program more individuals will familiarize themselves with their Muslim neighbors and see Islam as a positive influence in their neighborhoods, and maintain a relationship beyond Open Mosque Day.
