June 8, 2016
Saturday June 4, 2016, CIOGC’s Muslim Youth of Chicago network, MY Chi, met for the second time this year to discuss and exchange ideas on how to foster change among the Muslim youth of Chicago. This collective is made up of brothers and sisters from various organizations and mosques in and around the Chicago area. Representatives from Sound Vision, Mosque Foundation, MAS Youth, Masjid Farooq on the southeast side of Chicago, the Islamic Center of Wheaton, the CMECCA School from South Holland, Muslim Women’s Alliance, Islamic Community Center of Illinois and so many more attended.
The discussion centered on reaching out to youth who are not connected to mosques or Islamic social circles. The group identified this type of youth and their interests, and many creative and fresh ideas were brought to the discussion on how to reach out to them and effect change. The group is set to meet before the summer is out to discuss how to put the plans and ideas from the first two meetings into action. As MY Chi continues to work towards a better future, may Allah put blessings into their efforts.
