The Council of Islamic Organizations of Greater Chicago (CIOGC), a coalition of over 60 Islamic institutions in Chicagoland, condemns the heinous chemical attack on children and civilians in Syria and demands that the Trump administration denounce the attack and appropriately address the dire humanitarian crisis in Syria.
“Chicago Muslims stand in solidarity with the Syrian community in the U.S. and in Syria and urge Chicagoans and people of conscience to speak out against these crimes by contacting their representatives and letting them know that as Americans, we demand an urgent humanitarian response to the Syrian crisis, and that we welcome Syrian refugees. No human being should ever have to endure the great suffering Syrians have experienced. It is our duty as Americans, and human beings, to stand up for what is right.” said Husnaa Vhora, CIOGC Communications Coordinator.
CIOGC urges community members to contact their representatives to demand an expedited humanitarian response to the crisis in Syria and make Illinois a welcoming place for refugees.
