The Cook County Board of Commissioners and President Tony Preckwinkle recognized women in faith on March 22 at the Cook County Clerk’s office. The women belonged to ministries, congregations and organizations from across Chicago, and were honored for their essential and inestimable contributions to the health and viability of Cook County.
CIOGC nominated Dr. Aminah McCloud, founder and Chair of the Islamic World Studies program at DePaul University, to be honored on behalf of the Muslim community. Dr. McCloud is the author of many published books and articles which focus on African American Islam, Muslim women in the United States, and Islam in America, among other topics. She is currently a board member at Inner-City Muslim Action Network (IMAN), a CIOGC member organization.
