3/22/17 – CIOGC presents on IMAD at Northeastern Illinois University

On March 14, CIOGC Programs Coordinator Walid Sankari presented on CIOGC volunteer opportunities for a recently resurgent Muslim Students Association (MSA) at Northeastern Illinois University (NEIU) in Chicago. Alongside CAIR-Chicago’s Research Coordinator, Tauseef Akbar, the two representatives explained the nature of their Islamic non-profit work and developmental opportunities for Muslim students through volunteer work therein. Sankari informed the students about opportunities to participate in CIOGC’s Illinois Muslim Action Day (IMAD) on April 27 and Akbar spoke on CAIR-Chicago’s Traveler’s Assistance Project.

CIOGC looks forward to working NEIU’s MSA and its members as well as their local communities. Volunteers can gain skills in a variety of areas from community organizing to writing for the Chicago Crescent. For more civic-oriented experiences, youth and students should consider gaining firsthand legislative experience through participation in this year’s Illinois Muslim Action Day and Senate Page Program. Youth and students interested in volunteer opportunities with CIOGC can learn more and apply by visit CIOGC’s Volunteer / Intern page.
