The Council of Islamic Organizations of Greater Chicago (CIOGC) wishes to extend its prayers and condolences to the families who lost loved ones today at the Tree of Life Synagogue in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. We pray that Almighty God grants each of you comfort during this time of personal loss.

We firmly believe that this violence is rooted in the ongoing dialogue of hate speech, and we stand with all groups that are condemning this despicable act of violence. As a nation of diverse faiths and political beliefs, we must not permit Anti-Semitism or any other form of racism to exist in our pluralistic society.

Finally, we add our voice to the demand upon our elected officials to exercise its delegated power to bring an end to hate-inspired violence. The well-being of our society desires no less.
