2/2/17 – Chicago Muslims organize to challenge the #MuslimBan this weekend

The Council of Islamic Organizations of Greater Chicago (CIOGC), a coalition of over 60 Islamic institutions across Chicagoland, is hosting two events this Friday, February 3 and Sunday, February 5 to address the Trump administration’s recent executive order banning Muslims and refugees from seven countries.

Tomorrow, CIOGC and member organizations are participating in a nationwide #WeAreAllAmerica action during noontime Jummah (congregational) prayer. Participating mosques will hold vigils and rallies with faith and community leaders and neighbors to express opposition against Trump’s ban on Muslims and refugees. Two major mosques participating are the Downtown Islamic Center (Chicago) and Mosque Foundation (Bridgeview).

On Sunday, February 5, CIOGC will host Senator Richard Durbin as well as leaders from faith and civic organizations at Islamic Foundation in Villa Park to address President Trump’s executive order to ban Syrian refugees and visitors from seven Muslim countries among other restrictions on travel.
