The Office of Cook County Clerk David Orr has issued a formal statement of gratitude for the efforts of South Asians countywide in serving as bilingual election judges and voter registers. In the statement issued through the South Asian Community Liaison, Ranjana Bhargava, Cook County has seen an increase from 41 bilingual South Asian judges in 2014 elections to 319 in 2016 and attributed the increase in great part to the grassroots efforts of the South Asian community.

CIOGC applauds the efforts of Cook County’s South Asian community in their contributions to local civic engagement and encourages Chicagoans of all national backgrounds to do their part to assist citizens in exercising their democratic rights.
