If interested, submit the online Senate Page Application by Monday, February 29, 2016 by 11:59pm.
The Senate Page program is open to current juniors and seniors in high school as well as freshmen and sophomores in college. Accepted applicants will be required to fulfill service hours in advance of the Senate Page program, which will take place on Illinois Muslim Action Day in Springfield, IL, in late spring 2016.
Marifa Saber, a 2015 Senate Page from Islamic Foundation School, wrote of her experience:
“Our Senator answered our questions and discussed the issues my partner and I are passionate about. His aide provided us with the Illinois Blue Book with our name printed on the front cover. Most importantly, when we expressed how much we would have liked to meet the Governor, he called and made an appointment for us to meet him. We were invited into his office, took pictures with him, and spoke to him about issues like minimum wage, Malcolm X Day being recognized as a holiday, and issues that affect immigrants.”
Applications can be completed online. The deadline to apply is Monday, February 29, 2016 by 11:59pm. For more information about the 2016 Illinois Senate Page program, please email youth@ciogc.org or call the CIOGC office, 312-506-0070.
