12/21/16 – Chicago Muslim community unites for Aleppo at AMP rally

With the humanitarian crisis in Aleppo and across Syria dramatically worsening, Chicago Muslims came together to express their solidarity with Aleppo at a rally organized by American Muslims for Palestine (AMP) Chicago on December 15 at Universal School. The event, “Chicago stands with Aleppo: Indoor rally in solidarity,” came at the heels of a vicious onslaught against civilians in east Aleppo in mid December.

Community members representing a number of Chicagoland Muslim institutions including the Burma Task Force, Hope for Syria, Islamic Center of Wheaton (ICW), Islamic Community Center of Illinois (ICCI), Mecca Center, Mosque Foundation, Muslim American Society (MAS) – Chicago, Orland Park Prayer Center (OPPC), Syrian American Council (SAC) – Chicago, Syrian American Medical Society (SAMS), Syrian Community Network, and the Syrian Forum endorsed and attended the rally to show solidarity with our brothers and sisters in Aleppo who are experiencing unimaginable horror.

The humanitarian crisis in Syria demands our attention and action. CIOGC urges you to continue expressing your solidarity with the helpless civilians victimized by a brutal and unforgiving civil war. From Chicago to Aleppo – the Muslim community is working to make a difference – even from across the world. Learn more about how you can help by connecting with your masjid and the organizations listed above.
