12/10/15- CIOGC Chair Offers Prayer at Interreligious Observance of Solidarity

The Council of Religious Leaders of Metropolitan Chicago held a prayer service and expression of solidarity for the City of Chicago at Holy Name Cathedral on Tuesday, December 9. Dr. Mohammed Kaiseruddin, CIOGC Chair, recited passages from the Qur’an on the Islamic perspective on justice, mercy and equality as well as our mandate in getting to know one another as nations and tribes created by God Almighty. The gathering was an opportunity for people of different faiths, ethnic and racial backgrounds to pray for Chicago and express solidarity in the common pursuit of mercy and justice. The Reverend Herbert Martin, Pastor of Progressive Community Church and Vice President of the Council of Religious Leaders of Metropolitan Chicago, was the main speaker.
