11/16/16 – CIOGC offers cooperation in national healing

Dear Mr. President-Elect Trump:
On behalf of more than 400,000 Muslims of Greater Chicago, I have the honor of conveying greetings and congratulations on your victory last night. We pray for your success as you work towards the safety and prosperity of all Americans and for a just peace around the world.
Muslims are an integral part of the fabric of America, as you must have noticed during your travels across the country during the campaign. We are a widely diverse, highly talented and very productive community. We are concerned about the violence that has already occurred – such as harassment on the streets and burning of a church in Mississippi – as a direct result of some of the campaign rhetoric.
We are encouraged by your pronouncement that you will be the President of all America, and that it is time to heal the wounds of division. You can count on our cooperation in the efforts of erasing the divisions in the country.
Mohammed Kaiseruddin
Chairman CIOGC
