1/27/16- Love Notes to a Mosque: Bringing Light in the Face of Adversity

To combat some of the rhetoric directed against Muslims, Laura Frisch and her neighbors delivered the notes to the Muslim Community Center (MCC) of Morton Grove, a CIOGC member. “So when I heard the hate coming from people like (Donald) Trump, and saw the news about the shooting in (San Bernardino) California, I wanted to let my friends and neighbors know again how much we really, truly love them,” Laura Frisch said. “I saw a group in California who sent love letters to their local mosque and I was inspired to do the same.” Through social media and her teaching gigs (she teaches kindergarten and seventh grade part-time), Ms. Frisch made a request: Make a card, write a note, draw a picture, and she would bring them to the mosque. She collected about three dozen love notes and hand-delivered them to the mosque with her friends and their children.
