1/20/16- IMAN’s Martin Luther King Jr. Living Memorial Project

On Monday, January 18, 2016, local families, artists, community activists and elected officials came together at Inner-City Muslim Action Network’s (IMAN) Youth & Arts Wellness Center for the annual Martin Luther King Jr. Commemorative Luncheon. After enjoying good food and great company, guests were given a special tour of the workspace where the historic Martin Luther King Jr. Living Memorial is being constructed. The Martin Luther King, Jr. Living Memorial project is an effort to recognize the historic importance of the Marquette Park March and leverage that moment to energize and inspire a community that continues the struggle for the justice and equality that Dr. King sought a half-century ago. This project also aims to challenge the City to continue to aspire towards King’s vision of collectively creating a ‘beloved community’ in the midst of current challenges and possibilities.
