1/13/16- Ibrahim Nasir named Illinois State Scholar

On December 28, 2015, Ibrahim Nasir received a letter from State Representative Marty Moylan congratulating him on being named an Illinois State Scholar, an extremely prestigious honor. “You have earned respect and academic success that will no doubt help you excel after graduation, at school and in the professional world,” wrote Moylan. Nasir, a senior at Maine South High School in Park Ridge, IL, received the honor from the Illinois Student Assistance Committee. This prestigious award is given to the top 10% of Illinois high school seniors. The award factors in GPA, as well as ACT/SAT test scores to see if a student meets the requirements for the honor.

Mr. Nasir is heavily involved throughout his school, as President of the Muslim Student Association as well as being on the board of the Student Athletic Council. He also regularly volunteers at local charities such as Feed My Starving Children and Misericordia.

Mr. Nasir not only excels in the classroom, but he is also the captain of both his football and wrestling teams at school, leading his teams to successful seasons. His football team, the Hawks, took home a Central Suburban League Conference title for the 15th year in a row, a state record.

CIOGC congratulates Nasir on his achievements and continues to be proud of the American Muslim youth who are excelling at every corner.
