Deen Camp 2005
|
|
|
This weekend, nearly two dozen college students from the Chicago area attended
the annual Deen Camp at Camp Long Lake in Wisconsin. The camp, which was
co-sponsored by the Muslim Student Associations of the University of Chicago,
Northwestern University, Loyola University and the Illinois Institute of
Technology, joining several MSA groups of universities in Wisconsin and
Minnesota, had an overarching theme of unity. The camp was open to young people,
ranging from middle and high school students to college and university students.
It offered a variety of sporting activities, such as swimming, archery, canoeing
and rock climbing. Guest speakers addressed the camp throughout the three days,
discussing topics relating to unity, leadership and tarbiyyah. Participants came
from throughout the northern Midwest states, including Illinois, Wisconsin and
Minnesota, and as far away as Florida.
