CIOGC Promotes Support for Dr. Ramadan

News :: 756

     Responding urgently to the distressing last-minute denial of a travel visa for Dr. Ramadan to begin teaching Islamic studies at Notre Dame University, IN, the CIOGC has issued a Press Statement condemning this unjustifiable and discriminatory Govt. action and requested its re-consideration. We have worked directly with Dr. Ramadan and his U.S. offices to promote community awareness on this important issue and have coordinated a write-in campaign in support of Dr. Ramadan and related objective media coverage. Council Chair Kareem Irfan has also sought support from major Chicago Faith Community leaders on this issue, among other avenues by way of his service on the Executive Committee of the Council of Religious Leaders of Metropolitan Chicago.
