CIOGC Hosts Dialog with German Diplomats

Following up on Executive Committee member Azam Nizamuddin’s representation of the CIOGC at the Trans-Atlantic Dialog Conference last year, the Council successfully arranged a productive dialog between local Muslim leaders and Karsten Voigt, Coordinator for German-American Relations. Mr. Voigt, a past leader of the German Social Democratic Party and a member of the German Parliament, was visiting Chicago to coordinate cultural exchanges between the US & Germany. The meeting was spearheaded by Br. Azam and German Consul General, Alexander Petri and productive interaction there lead to Mr. Voigt's visit to the Downtown Islamic Center hosted by DIC President Shanawaz Khan.
