CIOGC Illinois Tornado Relief Project

On April 20, 2004, a tornado killed several people in Illinois and left many others injured and homeless. The Council, on April 26, launched a fund-raising drive across the Chicago area, aimed to urgently raise funds for tornado relief efforts and appeal to Muslims, as well as fellow Americans of other faiths all over Illinois, to contribute generously for this noble cause. Council Chairman, Kareem Irfan, stated, "We appeal to our fellow Chicagoans to join us in this time of statewide concern by giving generously to the victims of the recent Illinois tornadoes. Our thoughts and prayers are with those who have suffered and their loved ones." The Council urged individuals and businesses from the Muslim community to help suffering fellow Americans in this hour of dire need. The Council raised funds which will be distributed to the affected areas.
