Council and Mosque Foundation Protest Daily Southtown Article

News :: 677

In cooperation with the Council, Mosque Foundation officials arranged a meeting with senior management of the Daily Southtown newspaper to discuss grave concerns about the scandalous nature of a Daily Southtown article about the Mosque Foundation, one of Chicago's oldest & largest Muslim institutions.

Chairman Kareem Irfan, Media Relations Committee Chairman Farhan Younus, Mosque Foundation President Oussama Jammal and Mosque Foundation Board Member Rafik Jabr held productive discussions with the Daily Southtown management. They stated that such blatant attempts at using innuendo and unsubstantiated allegations to broadly tarnish the reputation of a reputable organization like the Mosque Foundation and its respected Imam are unacceptable and will be unanimously opposed. They emphasized that such stories unnecessarily create a direct threat to Muslims by adding fuel to hate groups and those who would do violence against Muslims.

The Daily Southtown agreed to publish an article from the Muslim community that presents the true facts about the issues discussed in the article.
