Successful Forum Held with New Police Superintendent Phillip Kline
The new Chicago Police Superintendent, Phillip Kline, has informed Council officials that he intends to continue former Supt. Terry Hillard's policy of meeting regularly with Muslim and Sikh community leaders to discuss concerns. Muslim leaders held a productive initial discussion with Supt. Kline and other federal and local law enforcement officials in early December. Issues discussed included profiling, the new racial profiling law, and the CLEAR Act. Chairman Kareem Irfan stated that on a recent trip to the Middle East, he informed local community leaders in various cities about the success of this discussion forum.
