Funds Raised for Iran Earthquake Victims

In the aftermath of the devastating earthquake in Bam, Iran, Chicago area Muslims worked quickly to raise funds for relief.  The Council lent its strong support to these efforts by: cosponsoring two fundraising dinners organized by ICNA Relief and Islamic Relief; drafting a press release about Chicago area Muslim relief efforts; and facilitating the collection of monetary donations for the relief effort.

At the fundraiser hosted by Islamic Relief, Chairman Kareem Irfan stated, "We appeal to our fellow Chicagoans - Muslims and fellow Americans of other faiths - to join us in this time of spiritual reflection by giving generously toward alleviating the immense suffering of the families of those who perished and those impacted by the Iran earthquake."
