Chicago Police Dept. Forum Serves as Model for Other Cities Seeking Productive Dialogue with Muslim-American Groups

Officials from federal & local law enforcement departments across the U.S. (in Chicago for the PERF conference mentioned above) were invited to observe the June meeting of the Chicago Police Department's multicultural forum so they can initiate similar dialogues in their respective cities. Council representatives at the forum included the Chairman, Director & Interfaith Committee Chairman. Other key Muslim representatives included IMAN Executive Director Rami Nashashibi & At-Takaful Islamic Society President M. Abdul Hai. Chairman Kareem Irfan noted that through such candid, productive dialogues "we will change the fabric of this nation."
