Chicago Police Department Multicultural Forum
Council members participated in a quarterly Multi Cultural Forum hosted by Chicago Superintendent of Police.
The Council and community leaders met with Superintendent Cline & other interfaith and law enforcement leaders on September 28th. One of the highlights of the evening was the preview of a diversity training video on Hinduism, the 4th in a series of diversity training videos. Previous videos have included Islam, Buddhism, Judaism, and Sikhs. The night emphasized the importance of continuously building on established relationships and of institutionalizing the work that has been previously done. The forum was also attended by Thomas Knier, FBI Special Agent in Charge, Chicago Division, representatives from the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office as well as several key representatives from Homeland Security, ATF Bureau, Mayor Daley’s office & suburban police chiefs. The training video was very well received. These videos are used by FBI & law enforcement groups to train incoming officers.
