CHICAGO MUSLIM-AMERICANS HOST PUBLIC VIEWING OF "MUHAMMAD: LEGACY OF A PROPHET" DOCUMENTARY

The Council of Islamic Organizations of Greater Chicago (CIO), an umbrella organization representing over 400,000 Muslims throughout Chicagoland, will host a public viewing of the PBS documentary, "Muhammad: Legacy of a Prophet" at 8:30 PM on Wednesday, December 18, 2002 at the Islamic Foundation of Villa Park.

The CIO encourages all Americans to view this important documentary on Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), the last prophet and the central person in Islamic history. The program recounts the story of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), conveys what many American Muslims believe Islam teaches, and how their beliefs shape their lives. The documentary takes viewers into the homes, mosques and workplaces of some American Muslims to discover the many ways in which they follow Muhammad's example and interpret his life and his message today.

Kareem Irfan, Chairman of the CIO stated, "This documentary is an opportunity for everyone to gain a better understanding of the faith of Islam and its primary tenets of peace and justice." Muslims throughout Chicagoland will gather with their families, friends, and neighbors to watch this important program, educate those in their communities and encourage discussion of the subjects addressed in the program.

The documentary will air on WTTW, Channel 11 in Chicago from 9:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 18, 2002.
