COUNCIL OF ISLAMIC ORGANIZATIONS HOSTS NOTED MUSLIM ARTIST

The Council of Islamic Organizations of Greater Chicago (the Council), an umbrella organization representing over 400,000 Muslims throughout Chicagoland, proudly hosts the visit to Chicago of noted Muslim artist Reem Hussein.

A spiritually inspired Muslim artist, Reem Hussein, combines traditional Islamic art with contemporary influences and techniques. The artist developed her style in America, where she was born and educated. Ms. Hussein holds a Bachelor's degree in Fine Arts from the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York City, where she studied interior design and the restoration of antiques and decorative arts. In her career Ms. Hussein has sought to explore both the traditional Islamic arts of Arabic calligraphy and geometric design as well as contemporary abstract painting.
