The Council Elects New Secretary

The Council’s House of Representatives met on Saturday at the International House of the University of Chicago, electing Mrs. Heba Abbasi as the new secretary of the Council. Mrs. Abbasi, who is the Aqsa School representative, will now sit on the Council’s Executive Board. The House of Representatives also amended the Council’s by-laws, allowing the outgoing Chairperson of the Council to hold a seat on the Executive Board as an ex-officio. The House of Representatives is the governing body of the Council, comprised of the representatives from each member organization. They meet on a bi-monthly basis, receiving information on what the Council has done in the previous two-month cycle, and discussing future business.
