Council Welcomes New Pope and Remembers Pope John Paul II

The Council extended a congratulations and warm welcome this week to Pope Benedict XVI. Last week, community leaders Inam Hussain, Amina Saeed and Jennan Hashim, along with the Council’s Abdul Malik Mujahid and Muneer Aliuddin, attended a memorial service held for the late Pope John Paul II at Chicago’s Holy Name Cathedral. Religious leaders shared messages of hope, peace, justice and tolerance that the Pope had conveyed to millions of believers throughout his papacy. Amina Saeed read a message of peace the late Pope John Paul II had given in 1987.
