Council Meets to Discuss Terrorism Contingency Plan
|
|
|
Meeting on Friday at the Muslim Youth Center in Bridgeview, members of the
Council’s House of Representatives discussed ways in which Chicago’s Muslim
communities can implement an effective and efficient terrorism contingency plan,
especially taking into account some of the lessons learned in the aftermath of
the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks and the recent London bombings. Some of
the topics discussed were how to deal with a potential backlash in the aftermath
of another terrorist attack on US soil, and on how community leaders, imams,
parents and teachers can enhance their communication with younger people to
avoid a Columbine-like tragedy.
The House of Representatives also
adopted a budget for the 2005-2006 fiscal year after discussing the Council’s
grants and fund raising strategies.
