Council Helps Plan Immigrant Justice Convention

Last Wednesday, Saleem Shaikh, a Director on the Council's Executive Board,
attended an Immigrant Justice Convention planning meeting at St. Francis of
Assisi. The convention is being planned by Council partner, the Illinois
Coalition for Immigrant and Refugee Rights (ICIRR), of whose board Mr. Shaikh is
also a Director. The convention, which will be held in November and is expected
to have over 1000 attendees, will focus on policy and legislation affecting the
rights of immigrants, including the Real ID Act, DREAM and Comprehensive
Immigration Reform.
