Council Executive Joins ICIRR Board of Directors

Mr. Saleem Shaikh, of the Islamic Foundation in Villa Park, was elected to the Council’s Executive Board in January. After immigrating to the United States in the 1970s from Pakistan, Mr. Shaikh graduated from the Illinois Institute of Technology with a Masters Degree in Industrial and Systems Engineering. Mr. Shaikh has been an active member of Chicago's Muslim community since his student days. He is a senior member of the Board of Trustees of the Islamic Foundation, where he has been a teacher and founding member of their full time school. He is also the Chairman of the Council's Weekend School Education Committee. Mr. Shaikh was recently elected to a one year term as a Board Director of the Illinois Coalition for Immigrant and Refugee Rights, one of the Council's key partners.
