1) Mr. Abdul Malik Mujahid has served as National Coordinator for Bosnia Task Force, USA and Kosova Task Force, USA. Mr. Mujahid’s other civic commitments include: service on the steering committee of United for Peace, Chicago, a broad-based coalition of Chicago-area religious institutions; and initiating a joint campaign between American Muslims and the National Organization of Women which successful got rape declared as a war crime. As a trustee for the internationally recognized Council for a Parliament of the World's Religions, Mr. Mujahid has developed meaningful relationships with well known local, national and international religious leaders. His book, Conversion to Islam, was winner of the American Library Association’s Outstanding Academic Book of the Year Award in 1990 and serves as a university text book in Political Sociology. Mr. Mujahid graduated from Pakistan’s Darul Uloom Shah Waliullah in Islamic Studies and in Political Science from the University of Chicago. Presently, Mr. Mujahid is President of Sound Vision Foundation. In this capacity, he recently initiated Radio Islam, America’s first daily Muslim talk show. Mr. Mujahid also serves as a Khatib at several Chicago area mosques. Mr. Mujahid has been interviewed by many prominent media outlets over the last thirty years, including BBC, MSNBC, the New York Times, Associated Press, the Chicago Tribune and the Dallas Morning News.

2) Dr. Mohammed Zaher Sahloul is a Pulmonary, Critical Care and Sleep Medicine Specialist and is quadruple Board Certified in Internal Medicine, Pulmonary Medicine, Critical Care and Sleep Medicine. Born in Algeria, he was raised in Syria and graduated from Damascus University Medical School in 1988 with honors. He moved to Chicago in 1989 and did his residency in Internal Medicine at the University of Illinois at Chicago from 1990-1993 and fellowship in Pulmonary Critical Care and Sleep Medicine at the University of Illinois at Chicago from 1993-1996. He is married with three children.

3) Mr. Vaseem Iftekhar is the newly elected Executive Committee Secretary Br Vaseem Iftekhar is presently the President of Islamic Foundation North (IFN) which is based in Libertyville/Waukegan area in Lake county, Illinois having been elected to the position in Dec 2005. IFN is widely recognized for its innovative programs and interfaith activities. Br Vaseem Iftekhar is currently employed at Abbott labs. He has over 20 years experience in project management, corporate planning and in marketing. Br Vaseem has bachelor’s degree in Microbiology and an MBA in Management. Br Vaseem Iftekhar has been very active in Muslim activities in different communities for many years. Br Vaseem Iftekhar is married and father of two girls and a boy.

4) Mr. LaDale K. George is a senior counsel in the Chicago office of Foley & Lardner LLP, where he is a member of the firm's Business Law Department and Health Care Finance and Restructuring Team. Mr. George has over ten years of experience advising a variety of individual, corporate and governmental clients on business transactions. He focuses his transaction practice in for-profit and not-for-profit corporate formations and restructuring, private equity investments, tax-exempt financing, mergers, acquisitions and joint ventures. Among other matters, he represented Allegheny Health System (AHERF) in the sale of nine hospitals in connection with the largest health care bankruptcy filed, various other companies in initial and secondary public and private securities offerings, numerous U.S. Catholic healthcare systems to structure and secure over $10 billion in tax-exempt financing, and various other companies in structuring public/private strategic alliances and joint ventures to develop health care facilities.

5) Mr. Saleem Sheik has been re-elected Director. Mr. Sheikh started teaching Sunday school at Islamic Foundation in the early eighties, became principal and then Chairman for Sunday school activities. At present he is a board member and active in education, religious and social services at the Villa Park Mosque. In business Mr. Shaikh works with individuals who are seeking their own businesses. He works with a number of Franchise companies and recruits people as Franchisees. Prior to owning his business, Mr. Sheikh worked for Allis Chalmers, General Motors and International Harvester (Navistar) in industrial and Systems Engineering positions. He has a Masters in Industrial Engineering from Illinois Institute of Technology. Mr. Sheikh represents Islamic Foundation Villa Park at the Council.


6) Mr. Misbahu Din Ahmed-Rufai, is a newly elected Director and Professor of History at Harold Washington College, Chicago. He is also the imam of Light Of Islam Mosque, in Harvey, and a religious leader in the African American Muslim Community. He holds two masters degrees and is currently working on his doctoral dissertation with a specialization in Middle-Eastern, US, African and African-American History. His many community efforts include a charitable program to provide computers, books and school supplies to schools in Ghana

7) Ms. Tasneem Osmani has been re-elected Treasurer. Ms. Osmani currently holds the position of vice president of Global FX technology group. She has been in the financial services industry for over 20 years, having worked at Coopers & Lybrand, Bank of Montreal, and ABN AMRO Bank. Ms. Osmani is a Certified Public Accountant who earned her BS. in Accounting from the University of Illinois and an MBA from Depaul University. Her role as the Council Treasurer has provided her the opportunity to combine her passion for accounting as well as social service. In addition to managing her two teenage sons, Ms. Osmani has been active in numerous organizations such as Illinois Coalition for Immigrant and Refugee Rights (ICIRR), League of Women Voters, Naperville School District #203, DuPage United, DuPage Peace Through Justice Coalition, Islamic Society of North America, and Islamic Center of Naperville.
