The Council has cultivated meaningful relationships with state legislators through meetings, public policy advocacy and collaboration on issues of key interest. Every year, the Council helps Illinois residents meet with their legislators on Illinois Muslim ACTION! Day (IMAD) to discuss relevant issues, concerns, or to express gratitude. The Council has worked with its legislative partners on multiple vital issues, including designating Ramadan as a Green Month in Illinois, promoting awareness among faith communities about environmental issues, reducing carbon production and lessening water wastage. Its legislative partners also sponsored the Charity Without Fear resolution of 2005 and supported introducing the Arabic language in Illinois Public Schools. Several of them have also participated on IMAD, where the delivered inspiring speeches on the importance of Muslim representation in Illinois politics.
