Protest Indefinite Detentions

Protest Indefinite Detentions

Oppose Gitmo

America remained silent about Gitmo since it was not us, then we remain silent on the other 2,000 indefinite detainees in the little Kabul Gitmo called Bagram since that was not us. And now indefinite detention has come for us as the new NDAA law that any of us can be detained indefinitely without a trial or a charge by the military.

Demands:

  • Close Guantanamo,
  • Repeal indefinite detention,
  • Stop torture,
  • Stop unfair trials & secrete evidence,
  • Stop Islamophobia and other human rights violations.

When: Wed. January 11, 3 pm
Where: Federal Plaza
(Dearborn + Adams in Downtown Chicago)

Protest is being organized by Amnesty International in 100 cities with the endorsement of 60 plus organizations including Muslim Peace Coalition USA

Do you know:

  • According to the government 92% of these detainees were never Al-Qaeda fighters
  • More than 200 FBI agents have reported abuse at Guantanamo Bay
  • Only 5% prisoners were arrested by American forces while 86% were sold by bounty hunters for millions of dollars to the US military.
  • There are 21 children at the detention center
  • The oldest prisoner is 98 year old
  • There are 89 persons who have been cleared for release by the government but are still detained
