Act Now!

Organize and Mobilize for the Common Good!

Act Now!

Justice is a very important principle in Islam.  To paraphrase a well known hadith (a statement by Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him) – when you witness an injustice or wrongdoing, anywhere, anytime, then it is your responsibility to change it through proper action.  That is why working for the betterment of American society is part of the Council’s core mission.

The Council recognizes that action – civic engagement in all of its valuable manifestations – is essential to bringing about positive change.  The Council engages in a variety of actions (campaigns, events, etc.) focused on fostering positive change that ends an injustice or rights a wrongdoing.

The idea is to help Muslim individuals and institutions learn the art of civic engagement through active participation in a variety of campaigns (many of which are done in active collaboration with other faith-based, community-based organizations).  While there is much to be learned and to be gained regardless of the outcome, the issues and causes taken up by the Council impact real people right now so the Council engages in them with vigor and a keen intention to succeed!
